My good buddy Nate came by the other day and picked up this Soviet Cosmonaut Tattoo. Beyond being a really fun design, this marks a time in world history- before the International Space Station or any Mars Rovers could even be conceived- when the idea of getting out of our atmosphere meant a sort of cultural war between the U.S. and Russia. Contrary to what most may assume, the Russians started with the upper hand. Much of our technology and innovation today, as far as Space Travel goes, could very easily be chalked up to the fear and anxiety symptomatic of this rivalry. Here's to an era gone!
